The Challenge

In 2022, Australia reported to the UN that we had achieved SGD 6: Clean Water for All. Unfortunately, that not the case. It’s currently estimated that over 2 million Australia’s (that’s 8% of the population) don’t have access to safe or palatable drinking water.

In some communities the tap water contains arsenic, uranium or E. coli, forcing people to drink bottled water or worse – soft drink, as it’s often cheaper. This is part of the underlying problem resulting in poor health outcomes in remote and regional Australia.

Closer to the coast, did you know 10% of all drinking water is lost to leaking pipes? That equates to over 5,000 Olympic swimming pools dripping out across just South East Queensland each year!
